Nichan Iftikhar

Nichan Iftikhar

The Nichan Iftikhar is an honor that was founded in 1835 by Al-Mustafa Ibn Mahmud Bey of Tunisia. The order was awarded to people of French Nationality and other notable foreigners who have some form of connection with Tunisia. It is presented by the Bey of Tunis upon the recommendation of the chief vizier of the Tunisian subjects. It can also be proposed by the resident general of France.

On each award, the monogram at the center represents the monogram of the bey who presented the award, thus making it possible to determine an approximate date that the award was given.
